The Romanian and English versions are the originals. If a translation ever disagrees with them, they prevail.
In short
Your data stays on your phone. PlantEye has no account and no server of ours, and it never sends your photos, your plants or your care journal anywhere. The only exception is payment: if you buy Pro, Apple, Google and RevenueCat process strictly what they need in order to remember that you paid.
What happens to your data
- Photos you take or pick are used to recognise the plant and stay in the app's private storage on your phone. They are never uploaded. Recognition runs locally, with a model bundled inside the app.
- Your plants, the watering/feeding/repotting journal and the reminders are kept locally, on your phone.
- The personal reference bank (the vectors of the photos you have confirmed, which make the scanner better at your own plants) is also kept locally.
- Care notifications are scheduled by your phone, locally. There is no notification server.
- There is no collection of statistics, no tracking across apps, no advertising and no advertising identifiers. There is no user account.
The Pro subscription
The app is free for 5 plants and 3 scans a month. Pro — a yearly subscription or a one-time payment — lifts both limits.
- Payment does not go through us. It is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), with your account there. We never see or store your card number, your name or your address.
- Purchase validation is done by RevenueCat Inc. (revenuecat.com). It receives from the app an anonymous, locally generated identifier — a random string, with no name, no email and no account — plus the transaction details (which product, when it expires) and basic technical information about the device and the app version. That is all. Its job is to confirm the subscription and to be able to restore it on another phone.
- Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
- The rest of the app is unchanged: photos, plants and the journal stay on your phone.
If you write to the contact address, we will delete the anonymous identifier from RevenueCat. The transaction itself cannot be deleted by us — it stays with Apple or with Google, like any purchase.
Permissions and why they exist
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Camera | to photograph the plant for a scan and for the plant's own photo |
| Photos | to pick a photo you already have instead of taking one now |
| Internet | used only when you buy Pro: the app asks the App Store, Google Play and RevenueCat what the prices are and whether the purchase is valid. Without Pro, the app makes no network request at all |
| Notifications | to tell you when to water, locally, with no server |
Who has access
To your plant data: nobody but you. It goes nowhere, so there is nothing for us to share and we sell nothing. To payment data: Apple, Google and RevenueCat, strictly as much as they need for the subscription to work.
Deleting your data
Deleting a plant in the app deletes its photos and its journal too. Uninstalling the app deletes everything that was stored locally. For the anonymous RevenueCat identifier, write to the contact address.
Children
The app is not aimed at children and asks nobody for personal data, whatever their age.
